Getting That Business Mindset

By Hedrick Lepsch

No matter where you are at in your life you most likely have a leadership role in some way or another. Whether it is being an older brother or being a friend that is turned to when times get hard. What does it take to be a really great leader though? What keeps some of the greats ticking, as it were? Many people ask these questions in leadership trainings in Denver.

A great leader understands justice and what is fair. This may seem like the lone ranger kind of cheesy, feel good, nonsense that Hollywood tries to glamorize, but there is some truth to it. A great leader will be able to make wise decisions by understanding justice. Take, for example, King Solomon who had to make a decision on which mother should take the child that was being claimed. Now you will see this story immortalized every time you look up at the famous statue in front of most court houses.

It is really about wheeling and dealing and making out better financially, emotionally, and feeling a sense of fulfillment by helping others at the same time. People can do that for you, even if you are an introvert.

What makes this story even more amazing is that John Mackey, when he started his company was a college dropout with only 25 years on this earth to back up his plan.

Those leaders who are shy or afraid to really get out there and make mistakes rarely make any kind of difference in the world. Those who are willing to move forward when everyone else is afraid, will find that they are much more successful.

You will soon find out that it is all about who you know and not exactly what you know. The people you are surrounded by may be your key to getting to your next career. If you aren't keeping up with people, you will find that you are really just shooting yourself in the foot and it will hurt you in the future.

TalentWe all have talents and it is important to know how to use yours in the specific leadership role that you have. This is not a time to work on your weaknesses.

There are too many people relying on you to help them and lead them. If you don't inspire by taking charge and showing that you have talent then it will be hard to get those you lead to respond in a respectful and encouraging way.

There are hundreds of other things that you will learn as you go. Flexibility is always key when you are starting out after graduating with your E-commerce education in Denver. Make sure you are asking questions and always keep that love for learning, because that is your greatest asset when you get out into the world.
