Distribution Of Florida Tropical Plants

By Iva Cannon

Different plants normally require different climate for their germination. The climatic needs are usually different from one plant to another. For example some grow in highlands while others in swampy regions. This is due to the fact that different plants are adapted differently to their ecosystem. They have traits that allow them to flourish in some areas and not others. This probes us to look at the Florida tropical plants.

Florida is endowed with great variety of species of flora. They are distributed differently and depending on some distinct features. One of them is the topographical differences between various areas. Features that are on the earth vary from one place to another. This affects flora composition of that area. Some flora requires high altitude while others require low altitude. They have traits in them that enable them to survive these levels of height.

The soil type and its nutrient constitution also determine the distribution of different flora types in tropical areas. The soils required by the flora vary in type, texture and aeration. Some grow well in silt soil while others in loam-silt soil. This implies that soil is an important aspect as far as distribution of plants in tropical areas is concerned. This is brought about by variation in minerals endowment by different types of soil.

Also the geological factors do affect the distribution of various flora species. This refers to the features on the earth and resultants of rock decomposition. They bring forth to different traits of the earth. Existence of diversified traits on the surface of the earth as a result of differences in decomposition processes brings about different variety of plant species.

The type and amount of rainfall is crucial for growth of plants. Each geographical region is endowed differently in terms of the amount of rain it receives. This influences what will grow in that region. This is because rain requirement varies from one plant to another. There are plant species that need a lot of rain while there are others that require very little rain for their growth and thus this flora will be found in different areas.

Seasonality of some plants also affects how they are distributed. Perennial flora shed leaves at different times during the year. The adaptations of this flora are in such a way that they grow at different times of an year. Therefore diversification of these plants is brought about by changes in the seasons for example winter and summer.

Existence of diverse species helps in shaping the natural surroundings of Florida. This is from the existence of shrubs to hardwood and others. However, temperature is also very crucial factor in the distribution of various species. Different flora requires different level of temperatures.

These plants in tropical areas thus exist in large variety of species. Some of them can be obtained from farmers who sell these commodities. Before buying one should consider its adaptation to their surroundings. This enables them to pick plants that will do well in terms of growth. Consulting friends is also important before buying any plant.
