The Types Of Cylinder Valves And How They Function

By Cornelia White

There are various types of cylinder valves used in our homes and also the cars we drive. The braking system of a car consists of a master cylinder which contains various regulators for controlling the fluid used in the system. Care must be taken when purchasing or replacing a new regulator in a car since a fault or a leak in the system can cause a very terrible accident.

The other type of regulator is used in our homes for controlling the gas we cook with. One needs to be very cautious when purchasing one. This is because they can cause a very serious inferno if they are leaking or faulty.

The major container in a car consists of several types of regulators. All these have their various attributes and functions which must be in place for a car to work effectively. The basic type is known as the combination regulator. This one is usually found in cars which have both the frond and back drum breaks. This one mainly functions by serving a warning to the driver in case the braking system has an issue. It usually combines with three other regulators for its efficiency. The others include pressure, proportioning and metering regulators.

This drum brake is usually supposed to engage just before the disk brake. The metering valve is responsible for controlling this. It does not allow any pressure to enter into these disk brakes until the threshold pressure has being reached.

Having the rear drums engage before the front disk helps keep the car on the straight line. Therefore, it improves the stability during braking. This minimizes the chances of crashing or rolling during braking.

The differential pressure device regulator is vital in alerting the driver of any leakage in the brake system. It usually has a specially made piston at the center of the container. Each side of a piston is exposed to pressure which makes it to drop off the side of the exposed part of the piston.

The portion device reduces the amount of pressure on the back breaks. All cars need little pressure to be applied at the rear brake more than the front ones. This way, it prevents the pressure at the back from exceeding its limit.

The other types of regulators are used in our homes to control gas leaving the cylinders or the supply pipes. Gas in these cylinders is always subjecting to a very high pressure. Thus, the role of the regulator is to reduce the amount of gas to the level which is favorable to a gas cooker.

The spring valve works in connection with the diaphragm chamber that is filled with the gas on the downstream side. For a good performance always look for the best cylinder valves in the market to avoid danger which may be caused by them. Remember to avoid buying them from a dealer who is not reliable because not all dealers have genuine products.
