Discover More About The Black American History

Every person yearns to know how they came into being. The things that happened that led into their existence and place they are in are the things that everybody wants to find out and it is because of this common interest that has led to the emergence of books that have tried to explain the human origin. Early scholars also have their own version of the human origin/past but the most common are the facts about the black American history.

The history has explained why there is an existence of blacks in a country known to be for the whites and what made them come there. According to scholars the African- American were brought to the United States as slaves. They were captured from their country against their will and brought there. It was said that they were at the mercy of the whites whom they referred to as their masters.

Names such as colored or Negro were used to refer to the blacks because of their skin color. There used to be discrimination in those days in that there were different schools, churches, jobs etc. For the whites and blacks. This reached to a point whereby the whites lived and had everything that was considered good or better while the blacks had the bad or lowest of things.

It came to a time where the blacks decided that enough was enough. They protested to make their rights known. All they wanted was equal rights and treatment and to be considered as human beings just like everyone else. They wanted to go to the same schools, work at the same offices, go wherever they wanted and enjoy everything the whites did.

The fights and struggle continued until a time came when they came into an agreement through dialogue. Martin Luther, one of the freedom fighters, in nineteen sixty three made a historic speech where he said that the whites and black can exist in the same country peacefully. He said if they stopped fighting and instead take their time to rebuild their nation. His speech changed the life of some people and they started looking at life differently.

Today, both the white skinned and dark skinned people in the United States had agreed unanimously to have a black president. Both now have equal rights and freedom and discrimination is a thing of the past in this country and also worldwide. Black and white have intermarried, schools, jobs, churches and everywhere else belong to both.

Every February in the United States calendar is the African American month, where the history of the black people is remembered. The names that the dark skinned people were given before to refer to them are no longer used and anyone found using them faces serious problems with the law. Racists also do not have place in the country.

It has been seen that the past helps us knowing and identifying where we come from but it does not determine who we are or what will become, the most important thing is to focus on the future and let the past be.
