You are dead keen to do physical work and love creating and building structures. You are no longer enthusiastic to take on small structures; skyscrapers are your passion. You are adamant and strong willed enough to venture being a crane driver; but it is a must to be NCCCO Rigging certified before you can even think about taking on such huge projects.

Once you have experience under your belt, you are looking to be promoted to Crane Manager. You will be at the top of your game and oversee all jobs on site are done safely and properly. This is a fantastic goal with a great future.

The proper training is mandatory. There are various institutions that offer crane courses. You may be lucky and your employer may offer to support you, and pay for the training as it is very expensive. There is plenty of information on the internet to aid you.

You will need to ensure you choose the correct course for you, as you can do some courses online and at your own pace, this may be an option if you are already using a crane and would just like to get certified. It may be better to do a course where you get physical experience if you have not had much physical time driving a crane, as the equipment is not something you can take lightly.

One of the major functions of the Crane Manager would be protection and safety on the job. This is one of the numerous duties that come along with the title. Every country has its own set of laws and policies which building contractors have to comply with on site. This by no means includes all the rules that the real building will need to fully obey. The course you select will have to offer you a great foundation on all the topics you need.

You will have to learn all about the various types of cranes that can be procured, as all cranes have such versatile capabilities. The courses offered have prerequisites; only over 18 can attend and you are required to pass two exams, a written and practical. Most courses are done in two levels. Each covers several themes; from examining the crane before use, to hazardous scenarios, to load balancing and hoisting. Knotting, tag lines and sling knowledge is a must, being a boy scout will help.

This can be a very invigorating career, to have such ability in your hands. Though never forget this is a risky job and has many dangers. If you are not positive this is the career for you or awkward with the gear and your mathematics is not up to scratch to best decide how move loads safely, please have a look again and consider taking on a new career choice.

It is recommended that you spend some time on a construction site and get all the correct information before you venture getting your rigging certification. It can be a fruitful career, only if it is the right path and choice for you. Good luck.
