Ever since China has become so big in the world today, many people in the West, America in particular, would opt to learn how to speak the language of the Chinese in order to do business with them. Especially in the state of los angeles, there would be a lot of schools that would teach this language. So if one would want to learn mandarin in Los Angeles CA, then here is an overview of what he will learn.

Now when one would learn to speak this language, he actually has to perfect the basic concepts first because all the lessons would be interrelated to each other. Then first lesson that one will be learning would be the four basic tones of the Chinese language. Now these tones are very important simply because they will form the foundation of the pronunciation of the words of this language.

Now when it comes to learning the tones, there are four tones basic tones that are used when speaking. Now when one would say a word, he will be using a specific tone for that specific word. If he uses another tone by accident for that word, then he will actually say a completely different word.

Now the very first one that beginners would learn would be the neutral sound. Now the neutral sound is used when pronouncing a word that has to be pronounced in a monotone voice and for a few seconds. Now this is represented by a straight line because one will be pronouncing the tone with the movement of a straight line.

The next one to learn would be the high rising tone wherein one must actually use a high note to say it. When one would say high note, he would mean that he will be raising his voice a little to say it. One will represent this sound with a straight line that would point upward.

The third one would be the falling rising one wherein people would say the word in a way that his voice would first be low and then would go back to a high note. So basically, he will actually sound like he is singing when he is saying a word using this tone. Now this one is represented by a check mark because a check mark is made of two lines where the first line goes down and the second goes up.

The last tone would be the falling tone wherein one will have to say it with a strong note. Now he will sound like he is shouting because he is going to say the word in a rather strong manner. This is represented by a line that is going down as it symbolizes the strong tone.

So when learning mandarin, these four tones have to be perfected before one can be able to form sentences. These four tones are probably the four most important things to learn because these tones would be the basis for pronunciation. If one would pronounce a word with the wrong tone, he will be saying another word.
