Fire fighter training makes it possible for professionals to manoeuvre through busy streets without putting lives at risk. To join a career in this field, it is required that a person not only possesses brute strength, but also has the capability to react rationally to situations. Each person must also have acquired the required minimum age.

Applications sent out to departments can number thousands in each application cycle. Even though there are so many applications, there are usually very limited slots available. It therefore helps to have some extra credits as this can ensure that your application goes through the elimination phase without any hitches.

Education wise, a high school diploma is required of each applicant. From here, the next phase will be to sit for a minimum of three entrance level exams. The exams include aptitude tests, physical capability and endurance tests and the written examination.

Written exams are meant to gauge the abilities of a candidate in various areas. This will include his reading and comprehension abilities, how he reasons and whether he is able to recall information correctly. When taking the written exam, each applicant will be faced with a minimum of a hundred questions each of which comes with various multiple answers.

When it comes to the physical ability test, here the officers will be checking for agility, endurance and upper body strength. Each task conducted will be timed and will test the ability of each person to endure under harsh environments. Considering that coaching takes about fourteen weeks, one should not show signs of straining early on.

Live coaching is very common and is the mode preferred by many instructors. During live drills, a test building is put on fire and the trainees are required to put out the blaze within the shortest time possible. It also enables each trainee improve his reaction skills.

Once the drill is done, a health inspection must be conducted. This is where the officer in charge inspects all the trainees that participated in that particular drill in order to determine whether any injuries were sustained. These are responded to before a review is provided.

Burning buildings are classified in to three main groups. These are the acquired, simulated and traditional buildings. For each type of building, trainees must conduct drills that are relevant to that particular structure. An assessment must also be made in order to determine its structural integrity.

After graduating from the coaching academy, the professionals are able to join the industry as entry level professionals. From here, they will be able to improve their skills over the years. An improvement in skills and expertise is usually followed by a rise in the rank.

During the fire fighter training program, it is important to make sure that a person follows all the guidelines provided by his instructors. This is the only way to make sure that the individual acquires skills that will help him in his work. It therefore is important to pay attention at all times.
