Why do I have to go to college the scholar requested while drinking on her Frappachino recently at Starbucks. Yes, she was angry at the expenses, attempts to get the classes she wanted for preliminaries for her chosen degree trail. She asked; why can't I just do it online and save the tuition cash? Ah ha, so she's right, and let's chat about this shall we?
There had been an engaging article in the New York Times on April 5, 2013 titled; "The Practical University," by David Brooks which debated online education, and in this Op-Ed he asks some questions, specifically with online education and certificated degrees; what is the university for?
Yes, that's a decent question , all those buildings, administration, professors, and so on. And of course all that cost in tutoring. Why? Yes, why? I ask why too? Not only because I left college not keen to submit to arrogant socialist leaning professors who wouldn't get off their pedestals long enough to satisfy my curious mind or answer my questions even though I was paying them for the benefit of sitting in their cathedrals built with taxpayer's cash in my case, a state varsity.
Further, there had been another interesting article on April 5, 2013 in Kurzweil's Rising Intelligence Online News which told of new essay grading software now utilized by professors [*SCO]" PCs to grade tests and essays at varsity level: EdX." Of all of the nonsense - you mean schools are using this for entrance essay needs, and professors too to grade papers? That is crazy, have you seen how much these professors get in pay, annuities, benefits, sebaticals, text book sales, talking engagements, and costs - and yet, they're too busy to grade the papers? Why should we go to varsity?
Of course, this particular software cites one positive possibility; "Imagine taking a college examination and getting a grade back instantly, your essay scored by a programme, then straight away redoing the test to try and improve your grade."
Yes, I concur, the WOW-Factor indeed, but that just makes my point rather more valid, because if that software is available, we are able to use it online, and we for sure do not need a genuine teacher, professor, or all that tuition cost, we will be able to do it all online in that case. Why should any person go into future economic enslavement to get a varsity degree, especially when two-thirds of graduates work in a different profession than they received their degree? All-in-all I'd say there's very small discussion for going to college to learn.
Now then, a case might be made that going to varsity lets you network with a group of smart, fast-movers, which will help you massively in life and career, but that is a full other issue and I assume you I guess you could hang-out at the golf course and do that as well. Please consider all this and think on it.
