Learning About The Importance Of Note Taking

By Hedrick Lepsch

Cramming for the final test of the semester, or for any test during the course of the semester for that matter, is a common and frequent occurrence on college campuses across the country. This principle holds true for colleges in Colorado Springs.

Student, whether they are studying accounting in Colorado Springs or healthcare, can all fall for this trap of ineffectiveness by cramming for their tests and exams the week or even night before the test day. Not only is this form of "study" ineffective for school work, it can also be detrimental for a person's future career or job.

Steve Jobs had a knack for selling Apple not just to his customers, but to his employers. This is what you need to be able to do as an employer as well in order to properly motivate your team.

The answer is that the education you receive from actually attending college is so much more enriching than the education you could receive from the Internet. When you attend classes, you learn to write and think critically.

The due process of learning must take place in order for a student to avoid the need for last minute cramming. On the plus side, once the material is properly learned, the student will find that their exams will become much easier, that their overall scores will rise, and that they can recall important information once their careers begin.

After acknowledging the fact that learning will have to take place, a student can plan out their learning for the best results. As soon they will find, student who study their material soon after learning, as in the same day, will find it is easier to recall that information in later study seasons. This early review of material will be the initial step in learning the material and avoiding the need for the end of the semester cramming. But reviewing early is only the first step.

Taking notes also helps you to remember what was covered in the lecture. Many people are visual learners, so to have some of the key concepts from the lecture written down can be very helpful. It is almost as if writing down key concepts in the lecture helps you to keep the concepts written down in your head. Note taking may not seem like it's doing very much for you, but it is actually helping you retain the information much more efficiently.

A student will have to plan out when they will hold these intermittent study seasons throughout the semester according to their schedules and available time, but traditionally spacing the reviews out between two weeks has proven helpful for some. The intermittent review of past material will not only further engrain the material into the mentalities of the student, but it will likewise provide the foundation to build current and future information upon.

The reason why teachers teach start teaching in the first place is because they are passionate about a certain subject and they want to help students learn that subject. A Colorado Springs college campus is a great place to get a healthy start to your college career. Learn the importance of note taking now and you will be so grateful you did in the future.
