In this civilized world, it is a pity that many people are not interested in learning about their past and the culture their fore fathers adopted. This is because many are quick to judge the ancient practices as being backward and inhumane. This misinterpretation has deprived many of their pride for their originality as many embrace civilization. Therefore, you should know the principles of the Arapahos.

The Indians relied more on hunting but it came a time when the buffalos became extinct and there was no way that it could have sustained the whole community. This is because the community grew bigger and the constant hunting threatened the extinction of the buffalos. Therefore, they started targeting other animals like the elk, deer, moose and the antelope for food and skin.

When a couple are married, according to their culture, they are given time so that both families can see if the marriage is working. In this period, the families keep off from creating a bond that might bind them together. However, if the marriage succeed to pass the test of time, relationship between the two families commence and dowry is exchanged too.

This community is made up of extremely social and friendly individuals. This is the reason why they managed to maintain a strong bond within their families and to the whole community. This social culture was cultivated in an individual from an early age when he/she starts associating with his parents. This is why the white settlers found it easy to live and trade with them.

To manage a tribe, authority is critical and this was given to a man to impose it on the people. It is common knowledge that handling such a number of people by one man is quite impossible. This is because their needs will far supersede his ability. For effective administration, the community was divided into smaller units referred to as bands.

The natives believed the existence of one creator who made the universe, he is sitting high in the heavens, and he is motionless. The creator is recognized as the most powerful being than all other things on earth and above. They also believe that every other being has its own power too. This other beings include the sun, the moon, the thunderbird, the morning star and the whirlwind woman.

The ceremonies of the native Indians was based on the occasions that is in the community. However, some of them especially the religious ceremonies were carried out in specific seasons. Religious ceremonies were done to seek favors from their gods and sometimes to appease them. This are the best times for the native Indians to offer their sacrifices to the gods.

The native Indians are one of the numerous creative communities. Their creativity was spearheaded by the need to look good. This is the reason that caused most of their products to be for wear. Every individual in this tribe was very sensitive of his/her own appearance and maintaining them needed the help of these products. This was the main source of inspiration for the artwork.
