The Mission And Vision Of Bridging The Gap

By Stephen Brown

The world has progressed well beyond our imaginations. However, its to be noted how some people, and more specifically, their attitudes, can resist remaining so backward and primitive. For instance, you have the prevailing views and attitudes towards AIDS. One organization that aims to overturn this harmful precondition is bridging the gap Indianapolis.

There are many organizations, nonprofit, nongovernmental, and whatnot that answers to this appellation. The album names and songs are also quite multitudinous. Whatever they are, though, they all serve to underscore the common denominator of humanity. They are all for the betterment of the status and condition of people the whole world over.

That is one of the many things that set out BTG among many others. After all, you can always say that it is not the first, nor will it be the last org to step up in rebellion of AIDS discrimination. However, pretty much anyone can observe what sets it apart from others.

One of the greatest aspects of misunderstanding is the means of transmission of the virus. Many things can be misconstrued and stereotyped about it. Some derogatorily refer to it as gay cancer, and we need not point out the offensive overtones in this case. The consequence in being prejudiced against in this regard is that people are not getting the attention and treatment that they need.

Speaking about BGT, they have the noble mission of achieving the reach of HIV and STI prevention in a global level. For the aforementioned key population, they proffer care, treatment, and support. Generally, it is all about bridging gaps. Of course, they also aim to bring awareness, but the point is that they recognize that it isnt the end all. If those afflicted are also more knowledgeable and responsible regarding their disease, it would also contribute much in putting a stopper to the AIDS epidemic.

BTG is a mind dump for many intellectuals who are genuinely interested in proactively transforming the AIDS stigma, a stigma that patients themselves have come to embrace. The BTG influencers brainstorm for strategies, advocacy tools, and best practices that will commonly apply as a form of joint solution to many people the whole world over. They are different in that they provide linkages for key populations so that they know that theyre not alone, and also to provide sustainability and optimization when it comes to treatment.

Another uncommon thing with BTG is that it is not idealistic. They know that world transformation does not take place overnight. Therefore, they zero in their efforts on the community level. Soon, this will become a global advocacy, but realistically speaking, not yet. With a more concentrated effort, they are also able to change more individual lives.

Government authorities, organization heads, and influencers are often blamed for making decisions up from the ivory tower. The same thing cant be said for BGT, with the key demographics on the front seat. From implementation to governance, and generally in all stage of decision making, they get to have their say. They can also bring their grievances and challenges to the table in a more direct way, in such a way thats not like to get forgotten or get lost in translation.

With a tad bit of education regarding the stigma surrounding AIDS, and subsequently eradicating it, then those afflicted may have a more sustainable connection to the all important health services, enabling them to l live comfortably, longer, and with more dignity. However, the advocacy of BGT is not so much on the ingrained bigots, but on the key populations themselves. The concerned populations should realize that they have and are entitled to their human rights, and that includes their access to quality health services.
