The Need To Build Schools In Kenya

By Shirley Parker

The future of the world is in the classroom. The passport to the future is education. Tomorrow belongs to those who pursue education today. The most powerful weapon that can change the world is education. The power of education should be harnessed to create better societies. Education is not preparation for life. It is life in itself. The initiative to build schools in Kenya is a very noble initiative. That is because Kenyan children deserve to get high quality education like their counterparts in the West. Educating a single Kenyan child is simply educating the entire village.

A school is just as important as a hospital and a teacher is just as important as or even more important than a doctor. For a person to become a medical practitioner, he has to pass through the hands of a teacher. It is the teacher who will teach an individual how to read and write. Teachers are important.

The main business that takes place in a hospital is saving the lives of people. Inside a medical facility, there will be the improvement of the wellbeing of patients. A hospital and a school have many similarities. A school exists for the purpose of improving the well being of learners. Education saves young people from the malady of ignorance.

The situation in the developing world is bleak. However, there is hope at the end of the tunnel because there are fortunate people who are dedicated to finding solutions. Finding solutions to the problem of poor educational facilities is very possible. Many new and modern schools can be constructed to address the challenge of shortage of learning facilities.

Building a school is a noble thing to do. It is actually giving a child in a developing country a chance to get much needed education. In the Western world, people have easy access to education. In some countries, there is even free education from primary to university level. However, that is totally not the case with many third world countries.

It is good to be part of the movement to build schools in underprivileged countries. One can contribute money to worthy causes. On the other hand, one can volunteer in kind by volunteering his skills to teach students in Kenya. One can contribute as little as possible or as much as possible. It all depends on financial capability.

Before contributing money to a charity organization, there is need for some due diligence. There are organizations that are collecting monies but are ending up using the monies in dubious activities such as paying hefty salaries. Background research will come in handy so that one does not waste money. One can consult family members and friends who know about charities.

Education is a basic human right. Ignorance is the worst thing in the world. Most of the problems of the world have been caused by the disease of ignorance. The most powerful man in the world is not the one who controls the nuclear arsenal of a country. It is rather the person who is properly educated and has wisdom.
